February 2009

You are currently browsing the monthly archive for February 2009.

Things have been very busy here over at Craft Candy, fair preparations are well under way and more workshops are being booked in.  Our website has also been re-vamped!  The bigger we get, the more information we need to add to the site, and now we have a site that have plenty of room for all our upcoming events (and also a snazzy new look too!)  Go over there and take a peek.

Here is a sneak preview:

Craft Candy is proud to say that our very first workshop went ahead yesterday and good fun was had by all!  I only had the privilege of being there at the beginning, popped back over lunch and then came in at the end to help clear up.  Every time I spoke to any of the participants though I was told how much fun they were having, there is something so intriguing about bookbinding, it seemed to mesmerize everyone all day!  There wasn’t quite enough time to finish the sketchbooks completely unfortunately but I’ve already started seeing pictures of the sketchbooks that participants finished in the evening at home and they look great!  If anyone who was at the workshop would like to send us pictures of their finished books we’d love to put them on here.

Here are some pics we took of the work in progress…

Here’s everyone folding the paper for the inside of the sketchbook

A couple of our members were at the workshop, here is Janine and Joey having fun folding!

A table full of lovely papers and fabrics for the outside of the sketchbook.

We hope to get Heather back very soon to do another bookbinding workshop for us, watch this space!

Happy February to everyone, are we a bit late?  Ok, we are!  What can I say, things have been busy here at Craft Candy headquarters, including lots of new members, our first workshop and lots and lots of fair planning.

We have 6 new members – wow! They are a little shy at the moment though so we’ll be posting images of their work up here as soon as poss.  In the meantime have a look at the members page for some more information about our new friends.

Well, the other exciting news is that our first workshop takes place on Saturday, it’s a bookbinding workshop with Heather Dewick.  Heather’s work is amazing and we are absolutely ecstatic that she has decided to do a workshop for us.  Participants will be making a small sketchbook using traditional bookbinding techniques and will go home with the knowledge to make many more!  This workshop was a really popular session, booking out in a matter of days, so we will hopefully get Heather back shortly to do another session for us soon.  Keep watching the Workshops page for more information.

Our fairs mini site was also launched last week and we have been contacted by lots of lovely people who want stalls which is brilliant.  Go and have a peek at the site!
