- Who are Craft Candy? Tell me more about your fairs please.
Craft Candy are a group of Sheffield based makers who have joined forces to promote craft within Sheffield. All the members have their own craft or art based business and all aim to encourage each other in our pursuit of our crafty dreams. We started our fairs to give Sheffield a great craft fair where the extremely talented Sheffield crafty lot can sell their wares!
- When is the next fair and where will it be?
Our next fair is the 2nd annual Candy Cane Christmas Craft fair and will be held at Millennium Gallery on 27th November 2010.
We will hold 3 fairs every year, one in Spring, Summer and at Christmas.
Please note - we are no longer holding Craft Candy fairs at The Workstation on Paternoster Row.
- Terms and Conditions - PLEASE READ!
Craft Candy Fairs are a place where artists and makers can sell their products in a friendly and supportive environment where high quality and creativity is our biggest priority. Our fairs are a contemporary take on the Craft scene in Sheffield and are a showcase for the best craft this great city of ours has to offer. We want to maintain a high quality of work at our fairs and will access applications on this basis.
This event is organised by Craft Candy.
Craft Candy support sellers making handcrafted items. We do not accept bought in items or supplies. Photography that has been taken by you or prints of original artwork created by you are absolutely fine. We stick to these rules so if we find that this rule has been broken then we will have to ask you to leave the fair and forgo any payments you have made.
Sending in an application form does not guarantee you a place, we have to ensure a wide range of crafts are represented at the fair. Images supplied by you during the application process will help Craft Candy determine the suitability of your work for the fair, you can also link to a website which features your work.
The venue is the Millennium Galleries on Arundel Gate. Stalls will be located in both the Long Gallery and Avenue.
We want this event to be really great and ask stallholders to make every effort to ensure their stalls are well presented and visually exciting.
If you book then no longer wish to have a stall then stall fee is non refundable unless we are able to get a replacement. If we do then you will receive a full refund within 2-3 days after the fair. Any cancellations made 1 month or less before the event will not be refunded.
In the unlikely event that the fair has to be cancelled or the venue unavailable owing to circumstances beyond our control, we will try to arrange another date in the near future or refund your money in full.
Regular stalls are 2.5’ by 6’. We also offer 'start up stalls' which are half the size of a regular stall, these are especially for new businesses or for those who are new to craft fairs. Please note that these stalls are half a table so you will need to bear this in mind when preparing any decoration or table cloth for the stall. Each stall will be provided with at least one chair, two if possible.
Health & Safety: Please do not obstruct walkways with displays or stock, there will be sufficient room between stalls to display items but please do no obstruct areas which might cause danger to the general public. If we hurt people then they can’t buy anything!
The legal bit: All stallholders are responsible for their own items.
It is the stallholders responsibility to arrange appropriate insurance to cover all risks associated with their participation in the fair. Craft Candy accept no liability for damage to, or loss of, work or other equipment on display or in transit, or for damage caused to the public through stallholders negligence or disregard of heath and safety guidelines. We don’t allow subletting of stalls, please submit a joint application if you wish to share your stall with someone else. If you submit an application by yourself and then find you can’t fill the stall and wish to share with someone then contact us and we’ll have a chat about it.
Stallholders can have access to the building from 8:30am on the day of the event. Please set up your stall and have it ready for the public at least 10 minutes before the start of the fair. The fair will finish at 4pm and stallholders can pack up anytime after that. We have to vacate the building by 5pm.
- What kind of stalls will there be?
There will be a variety of crafts at our fairs, we do ask though that all products sold must be handmade (or prints based on original artwork), we don’t accept goods that have been bought in. You will find a variety of textiles, jewellery, ceramics, artwork, prints and photographs.
- How big are the stalls?
Table sizes are as follows:
Regular stalls - 6 x 2.5 foot (approx)
New for 2010 we have the 'Start up stall' especially for new Craft businesses or those who are new to craft fairs. The stalls are 3' x 2.5' approx. (Please note that these stalls are half a table so you will need to bear this in mind when preparing any decoration or table cloth for the stall.)
2 Chairs will be provided per stall.
Please bring decoration/tablecloths for your stall. Don't forget that we are offering a prize for the best looking stall!
- How do I apply for a stall?
Please go to our apply page to submit an application form. We ask that you either submit a few photos of your work or include a link to a website where your work is featured. This is so we can just check that the work meets our criteria. Once you have filled in a form your application will be assessed and we will be in touch shortly. Please don't send any payment until your application form has been accepted. Payment is by bank transfer only and once your payment is received you will receive confirmation of your booking.
- Do you accept food stalls?
At the moment we are not taking applications from any food based stalls, this is a requirement of the venue.
- I sell vintage or reworked clothes, can I have a stall?
I'm afraid we don't take applications from sellers wanting to sell vintage or reworked clothes. We've made this decision because we think that there are already good vintage fairs in the region and we want this fair to be primarily a craft fair. We do accept applications from people who make clothes though. Contact us if you have any questions about your products suitability for the fair.
If you are interested in selling vintage clothes then please visit Affordable Vintage Fashion Fair, these fairs are excellent!
- Do you just take applications from Sheffield based makers?
No, we accept applications from makers from all over! Craft Candy is a group of Sheffield based makers but through our craft fairs we want to promote craft in Sheffield which means creating a fair where makers based in the city can sell but it also means bringing the best of Craft from outside of Sheffield too!
- Do you accept joint applications?
Of course we do! Please indicate on your form that the application is joint and submit individual forms for each person. Simply fill in the name of the joint applicant in the appropriate box.
- What happens if I book my place and then I can’t come?
If this happens then we will refund your booking fee only if we can find a replacement stallholder. If we can’t find a replacement then I’m afraid the booking fee is non refundable. Also I'm afraid we are unable to refund the stall fee 1 month or less before the date of the fair.
- What about the legal stuff? Do I need insurance?
Yes - It is up to you as a stallholder to arrange appropriate insurance, including public liability, to cover all aspects of your participation in the fair. Craft Candy take no responsibility for damage or loss of stock or equipment, or damage caused to the public through disregard of health and safety guidelines in relation to your stall.
- How do I get a free stall at your next fair?
We LOVE competitions and giving out prizes! We also love inviting and pretty stalls so we thought what better way than to combine the two and give out a prize for the stall which has put the most effort in to looking great! The winning stall will receive a free table at our next fair, and don't worry, if you can't make the next fair then we'll remember and keep your prize for you until you can!

- Can I bring any promotional goods to the fair, do you have a goody bag on the door?
We don’t have a goody bag so you may wish to bring promotional information to the fair to display on your own stall.
- Can I help in any way?
If you want to help with promotion of the fair then please get in touch with us at fairs@craft-candy.org for details of how you can help by taking some flyers.
